Kate McGoey-Smith is a skilled practitioner who not only knows counselling, but also the intricacies of whole food plant-based eating.
This made her a perfect match for me. She is solution-oriented, positive and kept me accountable to myself.
Together, we replaced my "Can’t Do" attitude with a "Can Do" one! I recommend her highly.
- L. S., USA
Kate McGoey-Smith is absolutely one of the most amazing people I have ever met... turning tragedy into blessings and terminology such as: "suffering as collateral beauty"
- Laurie Marbas, MD, Colorado, USA
Kate focused and inspired me to 'dig in' and completely immerse myself into a whole food plant based diet.
Her coaching and ongoing support enabled me to lose 50 pounds, get my blood pressure and cholesterol to normal levels, best of all, I no longer have type 2 diabetes!
- M.H., Calgary, AB

"Mary" (changed for privacy), a post-secondary student, was suffering from the pain of performance anxiety and perfectionism. Sessions involved recognizing her critical voice and learning skills to sty in the present moment. Nary reported feeling much calmer and now responds rather than reacts to new challenges. School seems so much easier now!
"Bill and Marie" (changed for privacy) were in lots of painful conflict in their roles as parents. Their children were left confused and frustrated from their parents' mixed expectations and messages. Nobody was happy. With parental coaching sessions, Bill and Marie identified their shared values and learned how to get off the 'toxic triangle' of ineffective communication. Now they work together and are more appreciative of each other's contributions- no more mixed messages and more peaceful meal times!
"Susan" (changed for privacy) was absorbed in the pain of shame from secretly self-medicating herself with alcohol during the evenings and weekends. Sessions provided a safe space to explore her unworkable relationship with alcohol and learn to identify her triggering hooks. She realized how her limiting beliefs kept her stuck and what she could do to move toward a better version of herself. Small, effective steps (with some natural missteps) eventually lead to her desired outcome of living life without alcohol!
"Malik" (changed for privacy) woke each morning with a painful sense of dread, knowing he would be facing another work day. The direction of the work and the ever-changing culture of the workplace was no longer the fit he previously thrived in. He felt anxious and depressed. Sessions help to support Malik to take a much needed medical leave to restore his sleeping, eating and exercise habits. He learned how to unhook from self-sabotaging to practicing more self-compassionate behaviours. Malik also learned how to communicate assertively to effectively get his needs met both at work and home. Now, when anxiety and depression shows up, he knows how to keep moving toward his best life!
"Mohamed" (changed for privacy) felt paralyzing pain over the loss of his partner of many years. He felt so lost and alone in his grief. Sessions were a safe and supportive space to honour his grief. He learned how to gently become more self-compassionate and to mindfully live in the present rather the past or future. With time, he could embrace and appreciate the many treasures attached to this loss and found himself participating in social activities with renewed joy!
"Eddie" is suffering from high blood pressure, high cholesterol and is overweight by over 50 pounds. Several doctors have predicted that Type 2 Diabetes is inevitable. Whole Plant-based Lifestyle coaching helped learn how to manage the common gap between knowing and doing. They learned what triggers overeating and how to make friends with food. Small steps lead to big changes like having blood pressure and cholesterol readings in the normal range, losing over forty pounds and counting and blood sugars that eliminate the chance of developing diabetes!
